Think about all the music that has been put out there on the interweb since streaming platforms were developed. Decades and centuries of music at our fingertips! Now imagine it as a real-life library of songs; mile-long isles and shelves as high as skyscrapers. What would that library look like if there was no way to organize it? No way to keep track of who the music belongs to? Well without metadata, the songs that are released out into the world would have no link to the artists that create them. PRO’s (performance rights organizations) need this information to properly credit songwriters and those involved in the recording of music, so that artists get their royalties and the credit for their works. Emmy Winning, #1 hit music producer/arranger, songwriter, and publisher, Michèle Vice-Maslin is here to give us the whole story, and share the importance of this thing we call “metadata.”
